Over-the-counter whitening strips are handy treatments that can help you achieve a whiter and brighter smile. Just remember: Your smile might only brighten one or two shades. You’ll get the best results possible if you follow the instructions. To help you, our dentist, Dr. Jacqueline S. Reid, would like to give you some tips on how to properly use the whitening strips in Chatham, New Jersey.
First, don’t brush your teeth before you put the strip on the smile. This can help the strip adhere to the teeth. To begin using the strip, just take the liner off the product and then place the strip on the front surface of the teeth. Make sure the gel side is facing the enamel. Apply pressure to the strip with your fingers and fold the remainder of the product under and behind the teeth.
Second, follow the instructions that are provided. This is important because each whitening treatment is different, depending on the amount of peroxide used, so you shouldn’t assume the treatment has the same instructions as the treatment you used prior to this one. The instructions will tell you how long and how often to wear the strips.
